How do I properly recycle my old batteries?
99% of lead acid batteries are recyclable. Most local battery dealers and automotive shops will recycle your battery free of charge. Many towns and municipalities also accept batteries for proper recycling. Visit https://batterycouncil.org/page/Battery_Recyclingfor more information.
What is the difference between a deep cycle and a starting battery?
A deep cycle batteryis designed to handle a steady and continuous load throughout an extended amount of time. Built with thicker lead plates, they can be drained and recharged on a regular basis, popularizing them in applications such as boat trolling motors, RV “house Batteries”, solar battery banks, and sump pumps.
A starting battery is designed to deliver a high output of power in a short amount of time (Burst) for the primary purpose of starting an engine. These batteries are not designed to be continuously drained or discharged. Doing so will damage the battery and result in premature battery failure.
What type of charger do I need?
Fully Automatic: These chargers utilize microprocessors to adjust output current and detect when a battery is completely charged. They will automatically switch into a maintenance mode to prevent overcharging which can damage your battery. Automatic chargers are recommended for use on maintenance free batteries where damage due to overcharging can’t be reversed or corrected.
Multi-bank Chargers: Designed for charging multiple batteries at the same time on isolated circuits. This allows a combination of batteries in various conditions to receive an independent charge.
Maintainers: Low current chargers designed to maintain a full charge during storage or inactivity. Ideal for prolonging battery life during the offseason in applications such Motorcycle, Boat, and RV.
On-Board: Compact design allows for the charger to mount inside the equipment rather than sit on a shelf.
